The College Community School District hosted a community open house on Wednesday, September 25 to showcase the district’s recent renovations and additions to the new 9th Grade Center and Prairie Delta. The event, which approximately 300 attended, provided an opportunity for parents, students, and community members to tour the updated facilities and learn about the positive impact these improvements are having on the educational experience.
The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by student-guided tours to showcase the transformation. The renovations included a variety of upgrades and additions such as new entry/front office addition, enclosed connection from the 9th Grade Center to the high school cafeteria, conversion of the west science classrooms into a band and choir facility, updated finishes throughout the existing classrooms, restrooms, library, and hallways. The tour also included Prairie Delta which has its own separate secured entrance on the south side of the building.
“We are thrilled to share these exciting changes with our community,” said Superintendent Dr. Doug Wheeler.” Our goal when the project started was to provide our 9th graders with a space that best facilitates learning and the opportunities Prairie has to offer and thanks to our supportive community and those involved in the project, I think we accomplished it.”
