Student Teachers
Welcome, future educators!
At College Community Schools, we believe that supporting the development of future educators is crucial for the continued advancement of quality education. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for student teachers to gain valuable experience and earn their teaching licenses, endorsements, and degrees. By hosting student teachers on our campus, we aim to contribute to their professional growth and ensure they are well-prepared for their future careers in education.
Placement Considerations
- Notice: College and university representatives must not reach out directly to our staff regarding student teacher placements. All communications and requests should be directed to the District Volunteer Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for Community Relations. Only placements coordinated through the volunteer coordinator will be honored.
- Matching Process: We strive to match student teachers with qualified cooperating teachers based on subject area and grade level needs. However, please be aware that not every teacher may be available each semester, even if they have been a great partner previously. For more details you are welcome to consult our Placement Process Matrix
- Current Restrictions: At this time, we are unable to accommodate requests for secondary Social Studies or English placements. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
What to Expect
Review Process: We will review your request considering student teacher qualifications, preferred grade levels and subject areas, and cooperating teacher availability. Communication: We will keep you informed via email throughout the process. Placement Details: If a placement is made, you will receive details about the cooperating teacher, school building and additional forms for them to complete before arriving on campus. Alternative Options: If we cannot accommodate your request, we will discuss alternative options.
Cooperating College and Universities
If your college is not listed as one of our cooperating institutions, please contact the District Volunteer Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for Community Relations to facilitate the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for future placements.
