Congratulations to Faby Orozco, HR Generalist and Recruiter for the College Community School District, who through her passion for connecting with future College Community employees won, on behalf of our District, the University of Iowa Pomerantz Career Center Career Impact Award in the category of Highly Engaged Employer!
According to the Pomerantz Career Center, “over 700 organizations recruit on-campus for their internship and entry level roles, but we recognize that your organization has gone above and beyond to engage with our students through career fairs, recruiting events, interviews, and mock interviews, by posting opportunities in Handshake or hosting an intern at your organization. The participation and engagement of your organization shows us an intentional effort and investment in hiring Hawkeyes.”
Faby is often the first person our new employees meet as they are introduced to the many employment opportunities that our District offers. Over the course of the past year in preparation for our 2024-2025 school year, Faby has attended five (5) college career fairs within both Iowa and Illinois, numerous career fairs through IowaWorks, and held a career fair this summer at Prairie High School that was advertised throughout the I-80 corridor communities. In addition, her recruitment efforts have also included participation in mock interview opportunities and application,resume, and cover letter workshops at local and regional universities and colleges. Within our community, Faby has engaged in Veteran Outreach Coalition Meetings, Inclusive ICR Coalition membership and meetings, and has highlighted the College Community School District through the IowaWorks Employer Spotlight Presentations.
Because of Faby’s dedication to the recruitment and retention of our employees, we are starting the school year with fully staffed buildings to facilitate the abundance of learning opportunities that College Community has to offer our students.
