Students in our Agriculture and FFA program were busy planting in our new pumpkin patch. A three-acre site, located on the 155-acre site directly north of Prairie High School, has been developed as part of our Agriculture Education program.
“One of our main goals is to provide work-based learning opportunities in the field of agriculture,” said Ag Teacher and FFA Sponsor Erica Baier. “Students in our Intro to Ag class learned about soil and plant science and being able to apply what they learned is an incredible opportunity for them. In addition to pumpkins, we will also be planning fruit and vegetables.”
This past fall an exploratory course was offered to students at Prairie Point Middle School and an Introduction to Ag course to students at Prairie High School. Expanded course offerings are being planned as the program develops and grows.
