Cedar Rapids Prairie Activities Director Rocky Bennett announces that Kenyon Murray will take over as the next Head Girls Basketball Coach pending School Board approval. Murray takes over for Josh Bentley who recently resigned after leading the program for 8 seasons.

“We are extremely excited for Kenyon to lead our program,” said Bennett. “He is a top-shelf person with unmatched knowledge of the game who has an amazing ability to foster relationships with all stakeholders.”

Murray has a storied basketball background having played for the University of Iowa from 1992-1996. He spent 3 years as an assistant coach at Indian Hills CC, 4 years as the Varsity Assistant Boys Coach at Prairie, and has been coaching AAU basketball for over ten years.

Kenyon, a native of Battle Creek, MI, has called Cedar Rapids his home for the last 20 years.  He and his wife Michelle have 4 children; Demetrius, Kris, Keegan and McKenna who are all Prairie Hawks.

Murray has a vested interest in the Program and is excited to continue the tradition of Prairie Girls Basketball. “I am excited at the opportunity to work with the talented players at Cedar Rapids Prairie,” said Murray. “This group of young ladies has a great mix of youth, experience and talent and our goals will be to develop our athletes as successful people on and off the court while having championship aspirations.”
