The College Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Becky West as the district’s new Nutritional Services Director, pending School Board approval. West, a native of Watterville, Iowa, is scheduled to step into her new role on August 3.
West comes to the district with an impressive 17-year track record of leadership in school nutrition. Most recently, she spent nine years as the Nutrition Director for the Solon Community School District, where she successfully managed district-wide food service operations serving students across multiple school sites. Prior to her tenure at Solon, West served as the Nutrition Director at Highland Riverside for seven years.
Throughout her career, West has established a proven ability to lead large teams, maintain strict regulatory compliance, and uphold the highest standards of food safety.
“Becky brings a wealth of experience in school nutrition and a strong commitment to serving students,” said Christie VanWey, Chief Financial Officer. “Her collaborative leadership style and dedication to providing high-quality meal programs will be a tremendous asset to the College Community School District.”
West expressed her enthusiasm for joining the district and connecting with local families.

The College Community School District, widely recognized as Cedar Rapids Prairie, is located on an 800 acres campus and serves 5,800 learners across portions of Linn, Johnson, and Benton counties. The district comprises nine schools and two specialized learning sites, anchoring a vibrant school community that includes southwest Cedar Rapids, Ely, Fairfax, Shueyville, Swisher, and Walford.
