Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa is pleased to bring JA BizTown to Prairie Creek again this year! After piloting the program in 2023, all 5th grade classrooms will again be participating this week.
JA BizTown is a day-long visit to a simulated town, currently set up in the Prairie Creek gym. Following in-class learning for several weeks, students have the opportunity to operate a bank, manage restaurants, use debit cards, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. They learn money management skills through a practical knowledge of economic concepts and banking practices as well as display the soft skills necessary for successful participation in the world of work.
“Thanks to the BizTown experience, our students were able to actively explore real-world jobs and industries by experiencing engaging business roles,” said Prairie Creek Intermediate Principal Jen McDonnell. “We are glad we can provide these type experiences for our students.”
