The Class of 2027 visited Prairie High School on Tuesday, February 27 to learn more about Pathway opportunities.  A student-panel shared ways to become involved, tips for navigating high school and experiences they enjoyed.  Groups rotated through ten sessions where teachers described course options and information for students to consider as they prepare for 10th Grade Registration next week.

  • Pathway to Education: New in Fall of 2024: Classes will include Child Development, Topics in Education, Psychology, Exploring Teaching, Capstone in Student Teaching
  • Pathway of Culinary: Classes include Foods I, Foods II and Culinary
  • Pathway of Welding: Classes include Intro to Skilled Trades, WAM (Welding & Manufacturing), Prairie Manufacturing, Kirkwood Community College Welding Academy
  • Pathway of Construction: Classes include Intro to Skilled Trades, Carpentry, Construction Technology, Architectural Plans & Specs, Residential Construction, Prairie Home Construction (student-built house)
  • Pathway to Animal Science: Classes include Intro to Agriculture, Ag Animal Science, Advanced Animal Science, Ag Business, Ag in Industry
  • Pathway to Plant Science: Classes include Intro to Agriculture, Plant Science, Ag Business Foundations, Ag in Industry
  • Pathway to Health Careers: Classes include Anatomy AS&T, Anatomy and Physiology, Patient Care Academy, Nurse Aide
  • Pathway to Video Technology: Classes include Video Production I, Video Production II, TV Production

Additional sessions featured the importance of becoming involved in activities/athletics/clubs/extracurricular activities and learning more about our Fine Arts Programs. Students also received an overview about a variety of newly offered Physical Education classes.

On March 4th and 5th students will meet with high school counselors to begin choosing high school classes.
