CCSD SRO

District administrators and our School Resource Officers (SROs) from across the district meet quarterly to discuss student concerns, support, supervision, training opportunities, and safety needs. We appreciate our partnership with the Cedar Rapids Police Department. Their efforts to support safety measures, our students and the entire Prairie campus is unmatched. CCSD currently has an SRO at Prairie High School, Prairie Point and an additional campus-wide SRO position was added this year.

“School Resource Officers play a vital role in our schools and on our Prairie campus,” said Dr. Doug Wheeler, Superintendent of Schools. “They are trained professionals who help create a safe and positive learning environment for our students and staff. We value our collaborative partnership with the Cedar Rapids Police Department and appreciate the dedication and hard work of our school resource officers and other law enforcement professionals throughout our surrounding area who help to keep schools safe.”

Cedar Rapids Police Officer Janae Obbink was the first School Resource Officer for the College Community School District.  Officer Obbink was assigned to Prairie High School for the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
