Prior to winter break, Prairie Point 7th grade students engaged in a half-day of learning about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) careers. Students cycled through three 30 minute sessions and participated in hands-on learning. A sample of careers represented at this event were Kirkwood Auto Tech Academy, UI Department of Physics and Astronomy, Willow Grove Studios, VA Medical Center, Cedar Rapids Crime Scene Unit, KGAN Iowa’s News Now, Theatre Cedar Rapids, National Advanced Driving Simulator, Kirkwood Agriculture/Animal Science and the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
