College Community staff will once again be receiving free trees courtesy of the Monarch Research Project in Marion. This is the third tree distribution that CCSD has participated in since the derecho. In total, the Prairie Community has ordered around 3500 trees including 124 that were planted on our campus. This project has been a great benefit to our staff and has helped restore the tree canopy that we lost during the derecho.  All of the trees are native species which helps to increase biodiversity which is an objective of Monarch Research.

On Oct 7, Monarch Research has invited world renowned ecologist, Dr. Doug Tallamy, to speak on our campus about increasing biodiversity in our own yards. The presentation will feature his photography and tips for homeowners and is geared toward both students and adults.  The presentation starts at 7:00pm (doors open at 6pm for book signing) at the PHS Concert Hall.

The event free and open to the public. Click here to order your free tickets.
