Thanks to a generous donation from the Monarch Research Project, local school districts were offered free trees to distribute to their staff members. Staff members were able to select up to three trees and select from a list that included 25 different native species. College Community staff ordered 1,400 trees plus an additional 52 that will be planted throughout the Prairie campus including our student-built homes.

Tree distribution took place on October 6 and 7 on the Prairie campus thanks to the numerous volunteers from Prairie High School, Prairie Point Middle School, Buildings and Grounds, staff and our community.

“Prairie staff had a tremendous response to this generous offer,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Wheeler. “We were grateful to participate in this project and help our staff and our surrounding community replace trees lost in the derecho.”
