The College Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Abby Becicka as the new Dean of Students at Prairie High School. A proud Prairie High School alum (Class of 2010), Becicka brings a wealth of instructional expertise and a deep-rooted commitment to the district’s mission.
Becicka has served as an Instructional Coach at Prairie High School since 2022, where she has been a key driver in refining classroom strategies and professional development. Her extensive background in education includes:
- Professional History: Before transitioning to coaching, Becicka taught English at PHS (2020–2022) and West Delaware High School (2014–2020).
- Educational Excellence: She holds both a Bachelor of Arts in English Teaching and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa.
- Leadership Impact: She has been a vital member of several district initiatives, including the Standards-Based Grading Task Force, Cadre, the Attendance Team, and the Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Health (SEBH) Team.
In her new role, Becicka will bridge the gap between academic excellence and student well-being, overseeing instructional practices while supporting the holistic needs of the student body.
“As an instructional coach, Abby has been instrumental in our efforts to enhance classroom strategies,” said Prairie High School Principal Spence Evans. “In her new role, she will continue to guide instructional practices while also supporting the social-emotional and behavioral health of our students. I am confident she will be fantastic in this new capacity.”
Becicka expressed her enthusiasm for this new chapter within the Prairie community. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as Dean of Students and to continue supporting Prairie High School’s focus on high-quality instruction, student engagement, and ensuring all learners are equipped for success,” she said.
