The College Community School District has contracted with ZeroEyes, the creators of the first AI-based gun detection video analytics platform to earn the full US Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation, to protect students and faculty against gun-related violence.
The addition of ZeroEyes complements the district’s proactive, multilayered approach to safety and security, which includes a long-standing Crisis Response Planning Committee, along with security cameras, secure building entrances, intercom systems, School Resource Officers, a district-wide emergency response protocol, and comprehensive threat assessments.
“The safety of our students and staff is our absolute highest priority. Contracting with ZeroEyes is a critical and proactive step that integrates cutting-edge AI technology into our already multilayered security framework.,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Wheeler. “This addition significantly enhances our ability to detect potential threats and respond immediately, ensuring that our schools remain a safe place for learning. As a school district, we are constantly evaluating and updating its safety plans and security measures.”
ZeroEyes’ AI gun detection and intelligent situational awareness software layers onto existing digital security cameras. If a gun is identified, images are instantly shared with the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), the industry’s only U.S.-based, fully in-house operation center, which is staffed 24/7/365 by specially trained U.S. military and law enforcement veterans. If these experts determine the threat is valid, they dispatch alerts and actionable intelligence — including visual description, gun type, and last known location — to law enforcement and local security teams as quickly as 3 to 5 seconds from detection.
“As gun-related violence continues to affect schools across the country, it’s important for districts to take proactive steps to keep students safe,” said Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes. “We commend the College Community School District for taking meaningful action to deter these types of threats within their community. ZeroEyes is proud to be a part of their security approach.”
