The College Community School District, in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, is excited to announce the second “Our Cedar Rapids Days” event on August 19th and 20th, 2025.
This professional learning and community connection opportunity is designed to engage College Community educators in understanding the local economy and the vital role of education in building a strong community and economy.
This year’s event will focus on current and future workforce trends, with a special emphasis on technology and Artificial Intelligence. Teachers will begin their day with a welcome from new Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance President/CEO Juliet Abdel. Staff will then learn about the growth and impact of local data centers and the use of AI in both business and education through presentations from representatives of Google and The University of Iowa. These presentations will be followed by a panel discussion featuring members of the District Career Academy Advisory Committee. The afternoon will include tours of local businesses, providing teachers with firsthand insight into various industries and the skills needed to succeed in the modern workplace.
This event would not be possible without the support of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. We would like to thank the companies of our speakers and panelists – The University of Iowa, Google, The City of Ely, Layton Construction, Heartland Trucking, VanMeter, Travero, and MidAmerican Aerospace.
College Community would also like to thank the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance member businesses that are opening their doors to our teachers for this opportunity:
AB Mauri, Alro Steel, Applied Microwave Technology (AMTek), BAE, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, Coca-Cola, Crystal Group, Goodwill Industries, GreatAmerica Leasing, Hawkeye Electric, International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), IFP Motion Solutions, International Paper, KCRG, Midwest Metal Products, Raining Rose, Rinderknecht, Signature Aviation, Skyworks Solutions, South Slope Cooperative Communications, Sub Zero, Travero, and Van Meter.
