
College Community Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Carla Riley as Curriculum Director pending School Board approval. Riley is replacing Alison West who has been named Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment effective
July 1.
Riley comes to College Community Schools from the Cedar Rapids Community School District where she brings over 20 years of experience. She has served in a variety of roles including Instructional Coach, Reading Interventionist, District Coaching Lead, Professional Learning Facilitator, and teacher.
“I am honored to be joining the leadership team of College Community where it is evident the entire community takes pride in all they do,” said Riley. “I am excited to begin working alongside teachers through PLC’s as they continue removing barriers while creating multiple personalized pathways to provide students with experiences that support their individual needs.”
Riley received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Coe College, earned a Master’s in Collaborative Teaching and Learning from Graceland University and received an Advanced Studies Certificate, Pk-12 Principal, Evaluator Approval from the University of Northern Iowa. Riley also received National Board Certification in teaching.
“Carla is dedicated to delivering high-quality education to all students,” said West. “Her extensive experience and deep knowledge of instruction and curriculum will be a valuable asset to our system.”
Riley will begin her new role on August 1.
