Congratulations to our Prairie High School students who earned the Iowa Seal of Biliteracy. A Seal of Biliteracy Celebration was held Wednesday night in the Concert Hall to celebrate their accomplishments.
The Seal of Biliteracy program acknowledges students who demonstrate proficiency in two or more languages, including English. This year 68 students earned the Iowa Seal of Biliteracy, 58 earned the Global Functional Seal, and 4 students earned the Global Working Seal.
Guest speaker Erin Detterbeck, a former Persian-Farsi linguist for the Air Force, shared her experiences with the students, highlighting the value of multilingualism. The evening also included the presentation of medals and certificates to the students. The Seal of Biliteracy will be added to each student’s transcript as a permanent record of their accomplishment.
