Bucks for Book

The Prairie School Foundation hosts Prairie Fest each spring. Our students are the beneficiaries of the proceeds raised at the annual event. This year the Fund-A-Need cause was Bucks for Books. Superintendent, Dr. Doug Wheeler, and Executive Director of Elementary Programs, Tracy Schipper, made the pitch asking participants to provide a forever book for every K-4 student as they leave for summer break.

The cause received an enormous starting donation of $10,000 from generous donor, Daniel Chen. Chen is the parent of two Prairie alum, a Prairie volunteer, and husband of the late Ying Ying Chen who served as a long-time Elementary Principal and Executive Director of Learning Services.

Due to the generous support from Daniel Chen, the Prairie School Foundation and our Prairie community, $20,000 was raised. By exceeding the original expectations for the Bucks for Books event, all Prairie preschool and elementary students will have the opportunity to select two forever books!

Thank you, Prairie School Foundation!
