Cedar Rapids Prairie Activities Director Rocky Bennett announces that Kyle Knock will lead the Prairie Football program pending School Board approval. Knock takes over for Mark Bliss who recently resigned after 8 years as head coach.

“After an extensive search, we are extremely excited to have Coach Knock lead our football program”, said Activities Director Bennett. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.  His preparation, communication and ability to foster strong relationships with our athletes, parents and our school community will serve us well.”

Knock comes to Prairie with 19 years of high school varsity football experience. For the past 10 years he has been part of the Kennedy High School football program. During his tenure at Kennedy he served as Defensive Coordinator from 2014-2018 and Offensive Coordinator from 2018 to present.

“I am honored to lead the tradition-rich program,” said Knock. “I grew up competing and coaching against Prairie and have so much respect for their program. I am excited to get started and be a part of the Prairie community.”

Knock, a graduate of Iowa State University, was part of the football team where he played Tight End. During his time at Iowa State, he participated in three bowl games, including the Insight Bowl in 2000 vs. Pittsburgh, the Independence Bowl in 2001 vs. Alabama, and the Humanitarian Bowl in 2002 vs. Boise State.
