Prairie High School students attended the Construction Apprenticeship Career Fair , hosted by the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Building Trades Council on Wednesday, April 12th. This career exploration event is designed for students in Industrial Technology, Applied Mathematics, and ACE, Welding, or Advanced Manufacturing Academy who are specifically interested in the Construction and Building Industry. The focus is apprenticeship programs available for a post-secondary education opportunity. It’s structured to highlight 12 construction career paths.

The Construction Apprenticeship Fair was held simultaneously at two sites:  The NECA/IBEW Electricians Training Center and the Five Rivers Carpenters Training Center in Cedar Rapids. Several representatives from Skilled Trades occupations were on-hand to answer questions.

Trades represented include: 
Bricklayers/Carpenters/Electricians/HVACTechnicians/Ironworkers/Laborers/Millwright Operating Engineers/Painters & Glaziers/Plumbers & Pipefitters/Roofers and Sheet Metal Workers.
