College Community Schools held their second SRO (School Resource Officer) meeting today in the district office. The purpose of the quarterly meetings is to address student concerns, support, supervision, training opportunities, and safety needs. Those in attendance were Prairie High School SRO Janae Obbink, Prairie Point SRO Wyatt Wardenburg, Cedar Rapids Police Lieutenant Matt Welsh, and district and building administration.

The primary responsibility for our SROs is as law enforcement officers in accordance with policies and practices of the Cedar Rapids Police. SROs also help support the values of the district vision and philosophy toward educational equity and service to students, participate in building-level staff meetings, and assist the school in the education and professional learning efforts related to school safety.

The next SRO meeting will be held in February.
