Information
Job shadow opportunities are available for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors through Kirkwood Community College’s Workplace Learning Connection! Both in-person and virtual opportunities are available and participation is free.
Shadows are typically 2-4 hours in length and students get the opportunity to explore a career field and connect classroom learning to real world work. This will be the 9th-12th launch event for our multi-year, district-wide initiative to enhance our sports and activities culture. The attendees will learn about the mission and vision of the Positive Coaching Alliance and how it’s character-based curriculum will provide the opportunity to grow the activities environment, K-12. All 9th-12th students, families, activity leaders, and community are invited to attend. This event will correspond with the sophomore and new high school student orientation, feature an opportunity to view fall activity practices, and provide a chance to participate in a tailgate hosted by the Prairie Booster Club.

Join other students who are passionate about technology for a hackathon. A hackathon is an event where computer programmers of all skills levels and backgrounds work collaboratively on a software project. At the Devs Do Good hackathon you’ll work with a small group of students and a technical mentor on a project for a local non-profit. You’ll get real-world, hands-on technology experience and the non-profit will have new digital capabilities helping them further their mission in our community.
