Join us on Saturday, October 4, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. for a family-friendly fall harvest celebration, just five minutes from New Bo (2630 Otis Rd SE, Cedar Rapids). Admission is free!Shop organically grown apples, pumpkins, and gourds, sip fresh cider, and enjoy fall-themed baked goods. Kids of all ages will love the activities and orchard fun.

We are inviting teen drivers with learner’s permits and their parents/guardians to participate in a research study at the University of Iowa that is testing a parent-focused teen driving program. This program seeks to help parents/guardians better prepare their teens for independent driving by focusing on training teens to anticipate hazards on the road before they become critical. Participation requires two 90-minute visits to the Driving Safety Research Institute in Coralville, IA. The visits involve using a state-of-the-art driving simulator and answering online questionnaires. Parents/guardians and teens will each be paid $70 for completing all study procedures. *Recruitment is currently underway and ongoing through October*

Job shadow opportunities are available for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors through Kirkwood Community College’s Workplace Learning Connection! Both in-person and virtual opportunities are available, and participation is free!
Shadows are typically 2-4 hours in length, are considered an excused absence, and students get the opportunity to explore a career field and connect classroom learning to real-world work. The Aug/Sept job shadow application portal will be open through Sept. 17, 2025 at 3pm. Evaluations for the 2025/26 Fall and Winter Swim Season are now underway. If you are interested in swimming competitively or want to learn more about swim team, contact us for more information. Practices are held daily with meets held on weekends throughout the season. Swimmers ages 6+ that are able to swim one length freestyle and backstroke and encouraged to sign up.
